Hey, What's For Sale?

It’s all about the process!

When I first had the idea of launching my own art website, the main purpose was to display my works in one place. A gallery of the pieces that I’ve worked on for the past two and a half years, not only to share with friends and family, but also worldwide, for fellow artists to view and interested (potential) art buyers. I’m currently posting art on my Instagram page, beyondthebluepaint_art , it has received positive feedback and it’s been enjoyable, but I have friends that “don’t do Instagram”, so they can’t view any of my pieces. A website would be more accessible for more people and can be seen on more platforms (phone, desktop, iPad-type device). I’ve had requests and inquiries about purchasing some of my art pieces in the past, so the next step would be make the art available for purchase. For now, I’m not actively selling the original pieces, I’m looking at potentially making prints for select pieces, but some will definitely be up for sale in the near future.

What is for sale are several prints, both recent and older, with some going back as far as university art school. All these prints are limited with very small print runs and they are hand done (no copiers here!). The art school prints (1980’s) are lithographs where they are drawn on large smooth flat stones, ink rolled and cranked through a heavy lithograph press. The process is pretty cool, it’s very time consuming, but it’s rewarding. The best part is making print editions of the images often limited to a few artist proofs and about 10 or so prints. Once the edition is produced, the stones are erased (sanded down) from the stone, so the image can never be reproduced again. The newer prints are made from rubber blocks that are carved, then rolled with ink and hand-pressed. As such, some images turn out better than others (too dark, too light etc.), so each print is different. For the colour prints, I brushed on acrylic paint onto the block, then printed to produce a more abstract mono-print look. These prints are radically different from each other, as the colour combinations vary and they definitely are one-of a kind. There are different price levels and they reflect more about how limited each image is, (left in stock), so the newer ones are priced a little less, because there are more available. I am planning to set up an Etsy page to handle the commerce (payment), but for now I can handle sales though the site. Send me a message on the contact page and I will be more than happy to get your art to you. Looking forward to hearing any feedback about this site, please comment. Enjoy!
