I recently took a screen printing class, as I’ve been always curious about the process and the possibilities. I hope to use these skills for future print projects! This is my first real crack at the process and it turned out better than I anticipated. You don’t have to be a hockey fan to enjoy the nostalgia and simplicity of a pair of old-time hockey skates!

I’ve been feeling nostalgic recently, so I’ve been drawing things that make me happy and who doesn’t love a boombox! I got this Pioneer boombox in the early 80’s and it changed my life! Music became more portable and I could blast tunes in my room, outside, road-trips, anywhere! I’ve even recorded my own music on this unit and it sounds terrific! It still sounds great, so here’s a tribute to my rockin’ boombox!

It’s been a tradition during the NHL playoffs for Winnipeg Jets fans to dress in white (for home games) and cheer crazily to create a “white-out” effect. During the 1990’s-2010’s, I made prints at home utilizing carvable print blocks to produce “one of a kind” monoprints. The image of Calgary Flames goalie, Miikka Kiprusoff is acrylic paint printed on off-white acid-free paper. This is a monoprint, as each print differs greatly from each other, both in colour and effect. Some turned out better than others, this is a really good one! Hand-pulled, signed and numbered by the artist. Only a few left!

New, old stock litho from art school that I have only a few left. A themed project with our lithography class and the intaglio class where we created our interpretation of the title. We exchanged prints so everyone received one print from every class member, what a great idea! My interpretation was a literal translation, pretty obvious, right?
If you’re unfamiliar with lithography, I drew the image directly onto a thick large smooth stone with a litho (grease) pencil. A bunch of chemicals are rubbed into the image then it’s inked up and rolled through an ancient looking press,

This image was pulled from a lithograph stone and printed through a huge lithograph press with heavy pressure, rollers, a crank and everything!
