About

The current head shot isn’t ready yet. For now, here’s a self-portrait that is a little outdated.

I have been producing art for most of my life. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, my goals when I was younger, included becoming a hockey player, a musician or a comic book artist.

Art became my main focus, drawing comics and taking on illustrating projects. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba in 1987 with a major in drawing, with the intent of pursuing a career in the art world and took a job in a related field, as a picture framer. It was an opportunity to meet other artists and gain knowledge and skills in the presentation of artwork. During this time, I continued to produce artwork, but never had enough time to pursue larger art projects.

Fast forward to the beginning of the COVID pandemic, I took the opportunity to shift professions, I quit my framer day job and became an artist full-time. Since April 2020, I have been reignited with an appreciation for art using the time to explore different mediums and enjoying the freedom to produce art that matches my passion. My love of hockey is translated into my artwork taking hockey art to another level. As a former goalie, the goalie has been the spotlight in many of the pieces and a longing for the days of old school hockey has inspired my work.

Subject matter isn’t restricted to just hockey, other themes include, music, animals, comics and the human figure. My style is realism, with an illustrative and graphic approach. I am influenced by painters, Edward Hopper and local artist, Andrew Valko, comic book artists, Bernie Wrightson, Jim Steranko and Neal Adams, as well as popular culture, such as films, comic books and music.

Really though, art can be anything with endless possibilities, but the goal should always be what excites, fascinates and makes you happy.

If you have any questions, inquiries or just want to engae with me about art and/or hockey, please message me. Thank you!

Enjoy!
